Kour Municipality

Kour is a town located in the mid-region of the Batroun District in Lebanon, approximately 12 kilometers from the city of Batroun. It sits at an elevation of 450 meters and covers an area of 2.709 square kilometers. 

Population: As of 2015, Kour had a population of 1,375 residents, with a nearly equal distribution between males (701) and females (674). The town experienced significant growth over the decades, with a 192.6% increase in population from 2000 to 2015. 

Characteristics and Economy: Kour is known for its historical and religious landmarks, including the Sts. Michael and Gabriel's parish church, dating back to 1848, as well as St. George's and St. Joseph's churches. Near St. Michael's Church, there are numerous wells dug into the rocks, though many are now covered.

The town's economy is primarily based on agriculture, with residents engaged in farming and related activities.

Tourism: While Kour itself is a quiet town, its proximity to Batroun, a major tourist destination, offers visitors access to various attractions. Batroun is renowned for its historic churches, vibrant nightlife, and beach resorts. The town is famous for its fresh lemonade and hosts the Batroun International Festival, featuring local and international artists.
